I recently had a problem with popups and having my
homepage changed. I think I have that fixed with SpyBot
and a couple of the other programs listed in other posts
in this newsgroup. I noticed, when I went to reset my
home page, there was a big list of websites listed in a
drop down box where you put your home page. I have never
noticed this before nowand want to know how this can be
cleaned out? Where is this list located on my computer? I
have searched my diretory tree and the registry without
any finds. There are web sites listed that I have never
been on and was wondering is there a "double secret
directory" that only Microsoft knows about? Any help
would be much appreciated.

Ernie,
These are coming from the History\index.dat file.
To delete the History and TIF folders (and the index.dat files.)

Free History Eraser:
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
There are no "Are you sure?" dialogs with this program. Once you click on
Erase, the files are going. I (personally) would NOT enable Auto Erase.

It's also been reported that you can drag the History\index.dat file to the
Spybot shredder (then restart.)
---
Hands-on methods
Remember, you want to delete the History folder (and might as well delete
the TIF folder.)

Have had this same thing happen but now it has changed my
default homepage and everytime I turn on windows now and
run IExplorer it reverts back to default and that
webpage. What files do I need to fix inorder to have it
use current and not keep switching back to the
default....and also to change the default back to msn.com
vice this website. Thanks.

Don,

Your reply was a big help. I think I have finally
eradicated the offending parasite programs from my
computer with all of the programs mentioned here and in
other forums. Thank you.
