My home page is automatically reset to some wierd search
program everytime I restart. How can I remove this
program so that it will stay with the home page I set?

This problem may be caused by a program that is installed on your computer
when you download another program from the Web and install it on your
computer. These programs are typically referred to as <Adware> or
<Spyware>.

To resolve this problem, you must remove the offending program. However,
many of these programs can be difficult to remove. You can use a Spyware
or Adware removal program to remove the offending program from your
computer.

Some Spyware or Adware can be removed by antivirus software. Contact the
manufacturer of your antivirus software for more information about removing
Spyware and Adware.

Some of the companies that provide Spyware or Adware removal programs

This is going to be the product of one of those incredibly irritating popups
like GAIN being clicked on accidentally or purposefully... The spyware or
adware may be started up with windows or even when IE is loaded.

If it is started with windows you can quite easily take it out of the
startup group by going in to start > run and type "msconfig". click ok and
click startup. Here is a list of almost everything that is loaded when your
computer starts up.

You'll find that if you google the names of the programs you can usually
find out what they are.

An easier way to get rid of the problem (if it is a fairly well known
spyware/adware program) is by running Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com or
an antivirus program like the one you can get at www.grisoft.com

If it is not well known, the old fashioned (hard) method of search and
destroy as I mentioned above usually sorts out my problems!

Of course the best remedy is... don't click on yes unless you are absolutely
certain you know what you are getting yourself in to! :-p

Good luck
