The home page designation on my index.htm page keeps going away, which messes
up my link bars. Also, when I right click on the page, I don't get the
choice "set as home page" like the instructions tell me to do. Do I have
bogus software? or is there a way to get around this?

Your homepage file name such as "index.htm" is whatever your host requires
you to set it to.

Check with them. It could be anything such as default.htm(.html),
home.htm(.html), index.htm(.html) etc.

Are you using a disk-based web or a server-based web? If it's a disk-based
web (i.e. you open it from C:\FolderName) then it won't have all the
features that you can use on a server-based web (ex:
http://localhost/webname) If you want to test a web locally you should be
using a server-based web. You would need Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 or
Windows 2003 because these all come with a web server (IIS) installed. Then
you would create your web site at http://localhost/webname. Localhost is an
alias for your PC. Now you can use all the FrontPage features like you
would on a live site.

Next time, please include all info relevant to your post. I assumed you
were talking about a live site, not a disk based web.

I'm not sure I'm smart enough to understand your answer, I'm new at this.
This is a website that I create on my hard drive, using Front Page, then I
upload it to my hosting server, I use GoDaddy. I have Windows XP on my
computer. I don't know what you mean when you talk about creating it at
http://localhost/webname. But shouldn't I have all the menu options of Front
Page when I'm creating my website on my home PC?

we also have 3 different threads going on this now.
