I would like to get our company name & address to remain on the screen even
as our visitors scroll down and view the lengthy webpage. I would also like
for the navigation bars on the left of the page to do the same. What steps do
I need to follow in order to lock these two items in place? I used one of the
templates from Frontpage to create our website.

JD,
This is really not recommended. First, you can do this, but you need
to do it with frames. Using frames presents a lot of problems for web site,
especially if people need to link to individual pages in your site. Using
frames there is no way to link to individual pages because you need to link
instead to the frameset, which defines what pages appear in what positions
(ie: a header page appears at the top, a navigation page appears at the
left, and a content page appears in the middle). If you try to link to an
individual page, you'll end up with just that page, minus the banner at the
top and any of the navigation at the side, leaving your visitors with a page
that leads them nowhere. The same is true of the search engines. The search
engines will link the main frameset, but they'll also link to individual
pages (in other words, no navigation or banner). Framesets were originally
good back when 28.8 modems were the state of the art and banwidth was at a
premium and anything that saved bandwidth was a good thing.

Bottom line, you can do this using Framesets but it is not a good
design idea.

Hope this helps,
