Hi all,
I have two computers I setup to network. I used the network wizard and
created a netsetup disk . After going thru all the steps:
computer1 can see 2nd computer shares and connect when adding to my network
places, but the the 2nd computer cannot connect to computer1. when I go to
add network places and go thru the wizard I can see the home workgroup and it
has the computer1 listed but if I click on it , it doesn't open or allow me
to add it.
Also, when i go to veiw workgroup computers it shows computer1 but will not
open up computer1.
It seems to be a rights or permission issue.
Any suggestions as to what to look for?
(First I setup a workgroup defaulted as mshome and it would not work so I
started over and created a workgroup called home, the current one. I can't
seem to get rid of the one called mshome workgroup. It still shows up in the
pick list.)
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi again,
Ok, I found a solution that Chuck posted about the guest accout., but I ran
into a problem. On the computer1 the guest account was showing as disabled.
when I when to enable it , it was not disabled by checking disable. Someone
had disabled it another way. It was added to a group called disabled guests.

I deleted that guest account and setup another user called guest. All the
networking features started to work. But, the guest account I setup is not
like the built in guest account where you can turn it on or off, it is a
limited account named guest. Is there a security issue with it this way? Or
how can I recover the orginial built in guest account?

Sher,

The Guest account is a special account that has only access to anything that's
accessible by Everyone. Make Guest a member of Everyone, and you should be good
to go. At least for that problem.

You also may want to check for a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall.
