Hi All
Hope I am posting to the right newsgroup? Trying to network two computers
(home use)Have done it before with NIC cards, but am wondering is there a
way to do it using USB ports(which I have two extra on this machine {gateway
500 series} and one on my girlfriends {HP Pavilion xt963}also have serial
ports available. As you can tell I am a novice at this, that being said,
what I am really trying to do is network these two computers without the
addition of putting a network card in both of them.Running a cable modem in
the host machine, so I guess my main concern is I am going to have to put a
NIC card in this one (host) regardless as before with another configuration
I had to have at least two nic cards in the host machine? Of course that is
why I am asking this silly question, just searching is it possible with my
current availability of the USB ports or the serial ports.
Thanks In Advance for any help or suggestions.

Here are two ways to network two computers using USB ports:

1. Get a pair of USB Ethernet adapters and connect them just like
Ethernet adapters that mount inside a computer. Connecting two
computers directly, without a hub, switch, or router, requires a
crossover cable.

2. Get a USB-to-USB cable, with added circuitry, that can connect two
computers directly. Here are some sites for more information:
