I have 4 computers on my home network. Three are
desktops running XP Home Edition and one is a laptop
running 98SE. One desktop is connected to the internet
via DirecWay 2-way connection and to the network via a
PCI card cross-linked to a D-Link DWL-900AP+. The other 2
desktops have D-Link DWL-120 wireless adapters. The
laptop is connected with a Belkin F5D6020. DHCP is
disabled. All PCs are statically addressed in the
192.168.0.?? (255.255.255.0) range. Encryption is off.

DWL-900AP+ IP: 192.168.0.50

Computer 1 owns the internet connection and is attached
to the 900AP+. Can access the internet (browse & email).
Can see the other computers, but cannot access them. Can
ping only Computer 2 and the 900AP+. IP:192.168.0.1

Computer 2 is a desktop attached via a DWL-120. Can
access the internet (browse & email). Can see one drive
on Computer 1, but cannot see Computer 1 or any other
computers under "Microsoft Windows Network". Can ping
the 900AP+, but nothing else on the network, not even
Computer 1. IP:192.168.0.33

Computer 3 is a desktop attached via a DWL-120. Cannot
access the internet (browse or email). Cannot see any
other computers on the network. Can ping Computer 1 only.
IP:192.168.0.55

Computer 4 is a laptop attaced via a Belkin F5D6020
card. Can access the internet (browse only). Cannot see
any other computers on the network. Cannot ping other
ocmputers on the network. IP:192.168.0.60

I would be grateful for any feedback. I've been working
on this for some time, but haven't accomplished very much.

Thanks,
Burt.

Computer 1 is correct ie, 192.168.0.1 and owns the
internet. Check and make sure that it is sharing. Go to My
Network Places-View Connections-Right click internet link-
properties-advanced tab. Make sure sharing is ticked.
All other pc's should be set to obtain an IP
automatically. The no1 pcs likes to allocate IP addresses
to the other machines. Make sure they are all in the same
workgroup.
Try adding user accounts for the other pc's to pc no1.
Cheers.
