I have 4 pc connected to residential router, 2 running win
me and other two running xp pro, other two running win me
can see and access files and folders on xp B, but can not
access files and folders on xp A either xp B can not
access to xp A, they all can ping xp A no problem, and I
can see xp A on network places, but when I click on xp A
it ask for password for this connection, but none any
passwords works (\\computername\IPC$), I did check all
setting on xp B to see they all have the same setting,
they all can connected to the internet.
IF anyone know this problem please help. Thank you

I'm having the same problem with my home network. I've
got 3 pc connected. Everything was working fine until I,
through autoupdate, installed Microsoft.net.framework.
My main computer is a Dell and I've been in email contact
with Dell support, but so far they haven't been able to
offer me any solutions. My Dell runs XP, the 2nd desktop
runs ME and the laptop runs 98. The problem seems to be
with recognizing the computer names. I can ping with the
address and everything works fine. If I ping with the
computer name, I get an error message that a computer by
that name cannot be found.
