Home Networking Problem

Hi there experts. I'd appreciate some help here.

The setup is 2 computers (one running Windows XP Home the
other running Windows 2000 Pro) connected to a simple home
network. I have admin privileges on both machines. I can
share folders in my profile on the XP machine via the
network using simple file sharing. All users can access
them remotely from the Win 2000 machine as expected.

Problem happens when I try to share folders on the XP
machine that are in a different user's profile. This user
only has limited privileges (if that matters). Anyway,
these newly shared folders are visible remotely on the Win
2000 machine in Windows Explorer. However, when I try to
open the them and view the files within I get "Access
Denied" error message.

Since many other folders are shared on this network
without problem, I assume network setup is working
correctly. I'm even able to share a fold that is directly
under C:\ and not within any user's "Documents and
Settings" profile. What's going on with trying to share
folders in this one user's profile?

Thanks for your help.

The other answer is not good, in my opinion.
You have a peer to peer network.. remember since there is
no central server controlling things, each computer knows
nothing about access rights on the other .. UNLESS.. you
match the user accounts and passwords exactly on the 2
machines. Every user on one who you want to have access
rights to stuff on the other 'puter needs to be entered
exactly the same in the user list on that computer..
remember to match the passwords.

Understood. However, the user accounts ARE matched. This
is evidenced by the fact that all of the user accounts on
the Win2k machine can access certain shared folders on the
XP-Home machine. They can all access "c:\folder1" on the
XP and they can all access shared folders
under "c:\documents and settings\USER_A" on the XP.
Trouble is none of users accounts on the Win2k machine can
access shared folders under "c:\documents and
settings\USER_B" on the XP. Both account names and
passwords for USER_A and USER_B are the same on both
machines. USER_A has admin privileges on both machines.
USER_B in "limited" on XP machine and admin on Win2k
machine.

I am having the EXACT same problem (and have posted my own thread to
no avail yet.)

My Win2000Pro Laptop can get to files on the XP Desktop, but not vice
versa. They both get internet access via my woreless router (but I
think that is not the issue.) The firewall protection is disabled on
the XP machine.

This is driving me nuts as my printer can only be connected to the XP
machine.

Someone out there must have a solution. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
