I have recently set up a home network. A PC and Laptop,
both have XP Pro with all updates. I have a broadband
connection via a Cable Modem. I also am using the SMC
2804WBR wireless router and the laptop is connecting via a
wireless SMC card.

I have run the Network Wizard on both PC's and named my
Workgroup the same on each. They are both able to connect
to the internet, my problem is they cannot ssem to see
each other. The main reason I would like them to see each
other is so I can print to the printer connected to my PC
from my laptop. Any assistance would be GREATLY apreciated!

I have the same issue...almost. I just setup a Linksys
router/wireless and my laptop is from work and runs
WIN2000 while my home machine runs WINXP. My laptop
account is on a domain with a local profile and it appears
to be too much work to switch the account back and forth
between domain and workgroup. I need to figure out how I
can see my PC running WINXP from my Laptop running 2000
while logged into my domain. BTW, I can ping each machine
and run netmeeting, I just can't figure out how to see a
shared folder or printer.

I found my answer. START-->RUN-->\\computername and that
pops up all of my shared folders.

Thanks for your ideas, but I can ping both PC's by IP, but
not by name. When I do the Start>Run>\\Laptopname, or \\IP
I get an error message "Network Path Not Found". I can do
the Start>Run \\IP or Comp. Name with the same PC I am
doing this from it works great. I am clueless on this one.
Any other ideas for me?

Ok..I ran into another issue. If I DO NOT run my VPN
client (extranet.exe) and log into my company network, I
cannot see my local home computer. This tells me that some
service is running only when I VPN. Now I was able to
successfully connect to my WIN2000 laptop via my WINXP PC
using the run \\ip command and then entering my laptop
logon info. So, now I have a WIN2000 issue. My problem now
is what service do I need running so that I can RUN \\IP
from my laptop to my desktop.

UGG!!!

I used to have the same problem. In windows XP (home
addition), a guest account must be turned on. Go to your
control panel and turn it on (under accounts) Hope this
helps.

I tried that..no luck. My exact WIN2000 error message is
server not accessible There are currently no logon servers
available to service the logon request. I need to figure
what service I can turn on in my WIN2000 laptop.
