Home networking difficulties

I am attempting to get my 2 home computers to share files and folders between them. I have run the network setup wizard on both computers. I have disabled the XP internet connection firewall and have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP. On computer #2 I can now view the folders on that computer that I intend to share. The other computer is not showing anything in my network places. Neither computer will allow me to view the other computer. When I click View workgroup computers on computer #2, it shows me both computers but when i attempt to access computer #1, it says "not accessible, I might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact theh administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." I receive that same message when i click View workgroup computers on computer #1, but it won't even show me either computer. This leads me to believe that some setting on computer #1 is prohibiting a successful workgroup/network setup.

Try installing the NETBOIOS Protocal. I just posted the
same problem then realized that XP does not shipped with
NETBIOS installed.

Open up you network properties and CLICK Install
Then Protocol
SELECT something like IBX\SBX Shold be last on the list.
