I tried using the network wizard on my base pc, but it
gives me an error message that I must setup the network
manually. How do I go about doing that? The pc I want
to network with is a laptop (wireless connection via a
router). My pc uses an ethernet adapter to access the
internet. My husband got me this laptop to use wireless
for Xmas. He gives me the laptop and I get to do all the
other stuff to make it work.

Thanks,
Diane

If I understand what you want to do, the first thing you
want to do is put all your computers in the same
workgroup. The default is either "WORKGROUP",
or "MSHOME", depending on your operating system. Once
that is done, each computer can communicate with the
others, provided that there are shares created.

Hi Diane,
I'm not at all sure, from your description, I can understand how your
network's set up.
Can you give a better description please?
Is your base pc a desktop computer? If it connects to the internet via an
ethernet adapter, is this connected by a wire to the router that also
permits wireless connections? Which model router is this ?
Are there other computers attached to the router?
Are you just trying to get the laptop connected to the rest of the network?
