My Situation,

I have recently acquired broadband and have subsequently bought anoth ASDL modem for a second PC I have. The problem I have is that when both modems are plugged in - neither of the PC's can pick-up a data signal (this includes when either PC is swithed off and the other is trying to detect a signal) - the only way around this at the moment seems to be disconnecting one of the modem cabels.
Am I missing something really obvious?

Maybe a better solution would be to set-up a home network? As I haven't had much experience in using or seting up networks - I'm not to sure what I require.
Would like to go wireless (but one of the PC's is approximately 100 metres away and through alot of walls and accross an open space - therefore expecting a signal may not reach. If I go with wires how do I setup a network with that length? - as I see most cables are only 10-15m's long.
The PC configuration would be one main PC, the one which is app 100 metres away and then a Laptop (Which would be good to have wireless).
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

100m  , you must have either a huge house or a big office, i doubt a wireless connection will work over that distance especially through walls but i may be wrong, you can buy 100M drums of cat 5E for about £15, all you need to do is cut it to length and stick a plug on each end, then you'll need a router and two network cards if the computers dont have them
