I'm trying to set up a home network, i know what i'm
doing, and i have one of the computers already set up...
the problem is this computer wont allow me to open the
wizard to configure a home or small office network! both
systems are running windows xp. i can't create a setup
disk either, because the other computer has no floppy
drive... anyone able to help?

Hi Ryan
You can use the XP install CD as the setup disc.
Or
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I don't know why the Wizard fails to run, but you can set up the
network on XP without it. Here's what the Wizard would do on XP if it
ran. Make the same settings manually:"

1. Set the computer name, computer description, and workgroup name
that you specify.

2. Share any printers connected to the computer.

3. Create the "Shared Documents" folder if it doesn't exist.

4. Share the "Shared Documents" folder.

5. Configure the local area network connection to obtain an IP
address automatically.

I'm betting your Network Connections Folder is empty. Fix that, as below,
and the wizard should work.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.

Yeah I have the same problem, thats why Im here right
now. Its really annyoing and makeing me very frusterated.
If you found a solution, please share.

Is your network connections folder also empty. If so try and fix that
