First time poster so please be kind. I know I have read similar thread
but I have not had any success in getting this to work.
First the issue: I have 4 computers networked together with a switc
over cat5e line. I initally had one computer as the main connection t
the internet which was a dial-up modem. Not very fast to say the least
All computers had hard IP addresses and the internet computer was als
the DNS. He had a hard address of 192.168.0.2. It worked, but it wa
very slow.

Then I put in the wireless card (USB) to get some better connectio
speeds. It has a hard assigned IP address of 75.207.x.x.

The threads I have ready said to let windows automatically pick the I
so I switched everything to do that. The main internet computer becam
169.254.x.x. I tried to ping to make sure I could still reach all th
other computers, but to luck.

So now I have one computer that can talk to the internet with som
speed, and a bunch of other computers with no access. I tried (to n
avail) to change the IPs back to the hard ones I used before.

I am not as good with this stuff as I would like, but this i
fustrating. Has anyone had any luck getting a Verison USB mode
networked? I have looked through PChuck's stuff, but I must not hav
done something right since it did not work for me.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Joe,

What you'll need to do is run Internet Connection Sharing on the main computer.
It will provide a DHCP server. With the other computers setup to let Windows
automatically pick the IP address, ICS will assign their addresses. This is
peer networking without a router.

In your setup, you'll be replacing a cross-over cable with your switch.
