Having trouble getting my computer to share files and folders on my network.
When I attempt to share a folder I receive an error message stating, "the
Server service is not connected." Anyone know how to fix this? I believe it's
internal to my computer, as our second computer doesn't receive this error
message when sharing.

Two things to try:

Control Panel -> Network Connections -> R-Click on your connection ->
Properties
Make sure "Client for Microsoft Networks" is in the "This connection
uses..." window and is checked.

Second:
Verify that your Server is running:
Start->Run->"services.msc" <OK>

In the window that pops up, make sure there is a line with the name
"Server", that its status is "Started" and its Startup Type is
"Automatic". (If not, double-click on it and change it).

HTH,
John

Thanks so much John. That helped a lot. Now I can share folders, and the
other computer can access them, but my computer still can access the other
one, or the printer, but I'll figure it out... I hope.

Hi
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.
