Home Network Problem

I have a newly installed Linksys router and connected to two XP Home boxes to it. Both can ping the router and they can each ping themselves successfully but they cannot ping across to each other. Both have access to the Internet. The ICS is turned off; the firewalls are turned off; the web based router software shows the DHCP of both on the DHCP table. One computer shows the icon of the other in the workgroup but when I double-click on it, it says network path not found. The other computer does not show the full workgroup. I have reset the router, connected the computers to different jacks on the router, run the wizard for installing a home network countless times (each time claiming to be successful). Nothing seems to help. Can anyone?

Hi, I am having basicly the same problem. With my #1
computer shut off, my #2 computer will be able to go out
on the web for a short while then get cut off. After
about 5 minutes, it will be able to get back on again.
Anyway, If you hear anything, please let me know too!!
Thanks. Phil

Looks like these are two seperate problems so we will try to answere them
individually.

First issue, not able to ping between the two XP machines, make sure you are
using their IP addresses to ping not their machine names.

For the second issue, not able to consistently connect to the internet,
check with your ISP to make sure you were not given a duplicate IP address,
also check your router to make sure machine#1 and machine #2 do not have
duplicate addresses. If that is not the problem then you may have been
infected with the Blaster worm, check the Microsoft web site
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/ for more information.

Which model of Linsys Router do you have? What are the IP Addresses of both
your client's and the private side of your Linksys Router? What error
message do you get when you ping each machines IP Address? Have you checked
that there are no third party firewalls running on the clients, ie: Zone
Alarm? And that the built in Windows XP firewall is turned off? Both
machines can successfully ping the Linksys Router? Please indicate what
steps you tried and what the result was.
