Hi. Having come home from uni for the weekend i have been
trying to connect my new laptop to the home computer. I
tried to set it up and it allows ICS from the Home comp
to the laptop, and i can view shared files held on the
laptop from the home comp but not files held on the home
comp to the laptop. It says (after clicking on View
Workgroup Computers) "MSHOME is not accessible. You might
not have permission to use this network resource. Contact
the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The list of servers for this
workgroup is not available."
Both computers use XP, are connected by ethernet and do
not have the built in firewall active.

Please help

Hi Mark,

Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on one or more computers in the workgroup. To do
that, go to properties of Local Area Connection>properties of Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP)>General> Advanced>WINS, check Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
(If you have a DHCP-assigned IP address, select Use NetBIOS setting from the
DHCP server ). 2) Make sure the Computer Browser service is started.

Have changed both the desktop and laptop to "Enable
NetBios over TCP/IP". Now the Network places listed on
the laptop shows the shared files on the laptop, but not
the shared files or printer on the Desktop. Also when i
click on View Workgroup Computers it shows only the
Laptop (before it showed nothing).
Any other ideas.
Thanks in advance

Mark
