I would like to print from a computer on my home network to a printer
connected to another computer on the network.
Do I have to install the complete printer software package on the remote
computer? (like I did on the computer connected directly to the printer) I
did install the complete package on the remote computer but it is so
resource intensive and runs all the time. I only print from the remote
computer occasionally and am hoping I can just install "a driver". Is there
some minimal way to install just a driver or do I need the whole shebang
running on this remote computer all the time?
The host computer runs XP
The remoter computer runs ME
The printer is HP7960
Thanks for any direction anyone can provide.

The remote should only need the driver. Just go through the process of
adding another printer, picking network printer of course and you should be
prompted for the cd that contains the driver. Make sure that the printer is
shared on the computer that it is connected to.

Thanks, Norm for your help.
I thought I had done this before but wasn't thorough enough. My problem was
when I "added a new printer" and chose "network" and browsed to the CDROM I
was presented with about a dozen different "inf" files. I had no idea which
to choose. But looking around the CDROM I found a folder with just one "inf"
file. I tried it and it worked.
So for others that may be interested this is the path to the driver that
worked for me. I have an HP printer so things will be different for
different brands and different OS's.
M:\enu\win9x_me\hphp9x12.ini
Where M: is my CDROM drive.
