This is a basic question that I would appreciate someone guiding me through:
I wish to install in a home a wireless/wired network between two machines.
The first machine is an older WINDOWS 2000 professional machine that will be
hard wired to a router. The router will also communicate with a WINDOWS XP
laptop by wireless means......
What I would like to be able to do is have the wireless XP laptop be able to
access data on the WINDOWS 2000 machine and be able to send printer requests
to the WINDOWS 2000 wired machine from the WINDOWS XP wireless machine and
print.
The printer is connected to the WINDOWS 2000 WIRED MACHINE.....
If I had two WINDOWS XP machines this task would be very straight forward
but with WINDOWS XP Wireless machine interfacing to the wired WINDOWS 2000
machine through the router, I need some guidance.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO RESPOND !

There is no difference between networking with wired vs wireless.
Are you asking for a step by step how to network and share your printer?

Do a internet search and there will be many links for you to choose from
with printouts that will walk you thru it.

Joshua: Thank you for your email. I have looked on the Internet using google
and I guess I'm not using the correct key words...hence the reason for coming
to this forum. I want to make sure that have the specific information to set
up a home network with a WINDOWS XP and WINDOWS 2000 machine. With Windows XP
the setup is very straight forward with WINDOWS 2000 I'm not so sure. The
wireless network is secure so I don't know if that makes any difference
either.....
If you know of a web site that can step me through this process..that would
be great...otherwise I'll figure it out with a little fumbling....
thanks
