home network doesn't work

my home network doesn't seem to work, i have 2 computers
using XP and i ran the network wizard on both using the
correct options.
it has created a "network" that isn't connected to the
other computer, and he isn't connect to mine eather.
he can't connect to the internet and we can't share files
or printers.
please help, i have absolutely no idea what the problem
is. do i need to do something else except running the
wizard?
