Can any one help? I have set up a Home network using the
Linksys Broadband-B router (BEFW11S4), the WAN port of
this router is connected to the high-speed cable modem,
the other RJ-45 connectors are connected to the two PCs.
All PCs on this network can successfully access to the
internet; however, they can not see each other very well,
especially accesing file and printer sharing.
All computers are installed with Window XP, computers are
configured as a member of MSHOME " as it is connected to
the network through a residential gateway", ICF feature is
turned off, nework connection in each computer shows 4
components (Client for MS..., File & Printer..., QoS
Packet..., Internet Protocol - TCP/IP with IP Address and
DNS are configurede as automatically obtained..).
I did some tests by pinging (through cmd) from one
computer to another and found no problem at all, but when
accesing through window XP, they can not see each other
through My Network Place. When I double click on the "view
workgroup computers", computer "A" can see itself and the
computer "B" on the network but can not get access to "B".
When clicking "view workgroup computers" on computer "B",
the error message displays instead: "MSHOME is not
accessible ...", it can not see the network that it is on;
however, it can see the computer "A" shared document when
selecting the "Shared documents" in Other Places window.

Many thanks!

Hi, i have the same Linksys router same LAN setting and i
have the same problem, what i do is turn the Firewall off
in both LAN conections and after a whilemaybe like 3 min i
am able to see all the Sahred folders. BUT i Cant access
the workgroup computers please forward me the response you
get to this problem.... Thanks (e-mail address removed)

Here it is again

I had the same problem through a Linksys BEFSR41 router. What I did is turn off/disable the DHCP on the router and configure all of my computers with static IP addresses as layed out in the manual. This ended the problem with the 3 to 5 minute what to access folders and or files. There must be a problem with Windows XP and DHCP enabled routers.

Hope this helps
