home network connection failure

I'm trying to get a home network connection with normal
telephone wires and i'm following the steps in the
walkthrough on my Windows XP Pro but it doesn't work, how
can I get it to work?

You can buy HPNA bridges. That;s the easiest way. If
you want to practice, use 2 pairs of wires, connect them
to pin 1,2, 3, and 6. Doesn't matter what colors as long
as they are the same on both sides.

What do you mean 'normal telephone wires'? Are you using
Home Phoneline Networking (HPNA) equipment? or are you
simply putting the phone cord into your network card?

(sorry if I am being too cautious)

Tom,

1 and 2 should be twisted and 3 and 6 also.
