Home network client cant connect to internet???

Hi
I have set up a home network with XP (host - connected directly to the
internet) and Windows 98 (client). From the XP computer I can map the C:
drive of the 98 computer and access data files and the network icon in the
tray of the 98 computer says "internet gateway: connected". But I cannot
connect to the net from the 98 computer???.
I ran & re-ran (many times) the home network setup disk but with no success.
I have gone through the trouble shooting screens but seem to go in circles?
Am I missing a setting on the 98 computer somewhere?

Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the XP computer's Internet
connection.

Run "winipcfg" on the 98 computer and check the network adapter's
TCP/IP settings. They should be:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1

connection.
I ran "winipcfg" on the 98 computer and check the network adapter's
TCP/IP settings. I see under IP Configuration:
PPP Adapter - Adapter address 44-45-53-54-00-00, IP Address 0.0.0.0, Subnet
Mask 0.0.0.0 and Default Gateway is greyed out.
I click on the down arrow and see:
F5D5000, PCI Card/Desktop Ne...
Adapter address 00-30-BD-71-E0-83, IP Address 192.168.0.205, Subnet Mask
255.255.255.0 and Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1
When I click on more info i see:
Host Name "Host Computer's Name", DNS Servers 192.168.0.1, Node Type Hybrid,
and Netbios Resolution Users DNS Box ticked. (others are greyed out).
I still cannot connect to the internet from the 98 computer.

You're welcome, Mcbain. Is there a firewall program on the XP host
computer? Some firewalls, such as the free version of ZoneAlarm, are
incompatible with Internet Connection Sharing.

On the Win 98 computer, open a command prompt window (Start > Run >
Command) and type these commands. Each one should get four replies:

ping 192.168.0.1
ping 4.2.2.1
ping google.com
--
