Home network and website access

I am running a home network. One computer is a desktop running Windows XP Pro (it also has Norton Iternet Security). The other is a desktop running Windows XP Home (also has NIS). I ran the home networking wizard on both computers and it seemed to work fine at first. The desktop (which is connected directly to the internet through a cable modem) can access any website just fine. The laptop cannot access certain websites such as, www.google.com, www.suntrust.com, www.ebay.com, and many more. I cannot figure out why it is doing this. I have tried turning off the Norton firewall on both computers, I have tried re-running the home network wizard on both computers. If I connect the laptop directly to the cable modem, then everything works fine. So I'm pretty sure the problem has something to do with the internet connection sharing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Greetings Brendan,

Ensure all firewalls are disabled or removed while troubleshooting. XP's firewall is only direct connections to the Internet and must be disabled on local area networks. Make sure each machines has the same Workgroup name (default MSHOME), and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. If they are different, they are on different networks. If DHCP is present, open the command prompt, and type "ipconfig/release" then "ipconfig/renew" to renew your settings.

I have the identical problem with (2) brand new Compaq
Laptops with XP Home that I just bought.

I have a P-P Network with 3 Desktops. 2 are running XP
Pro and the other is running Win 98. One of the XP Pro
machines is connecting thry dial-up and the others
connect thru internet connection sharing. This network
has been up for about 2 years now and the desktops work
fine.

I am just having this problem on the new Laptops. Could
it be something in XP Home?
