Is there a way to transfer old 8 mm movie camera film into my computer so I can
put it on a vcd. I am asking about 8 mm movie cameras not 8 mm camcorders.

You'd have to find a professional service for this transfer. Technically
speaking film to tape is called 'telecine'. Going the other way round (tape
to film) is called telerecording and is vastly more expensive. Look in your
Yellow Pages for companies that offer the service.

Hi there,

You will need to check in your local advertiser, yellow pages or similar. I
have seen the results of one or two of these captures. One was terrible, the
rest were very good indeed. You would do better to aim higher then VCD, its not
a very good standard. If you can get them to burn you a DVD disk with DV-AVI
you would do OK. You would be using the DVD disk as storage not as a DVD. This
then gives you the ability to copy to your computer and edit the film....

I have a load of the old Standard 8 and Super 8 film. I really must do the
same.

There is an article in Aug. 3, 2004 PC magazine about
converting your home movies to dvd. It is found on page
54 or maybe you can check out the website
www.pcmag.com/solutions
Good luck
