i'm actually trying to connect my mac to my
pc. my mac has a network address that me pc can see. when i try to
connect to that box, a dialog box comes up that says connecting to
that address. it then asks for a user name and password. i think i
need to reset that password. i've tried to reastablish this connection
but it always comes back to this box. any ideas?
thanks again

You trying to connect via AppleTalk? what version of Mac OS?

If by AppleTalk only way I've gotten a Mac to talk to a pc is through a
win2000 server using the appleshare feature. I have a friend that has had
minor success getting Mac OSX to talk to a Windows or samba share.

I am using os10.2
the windows file sharing
it works very well
i just lost my password on my PC
i need to re set it or find out what it is

GUI
In OS X you go to "Connect to server." from the Go menu and then type in
"smb://server"
Your can also define who you are and what share you want to connect to:
"smb://username@computername\folder"
You can supple a password in the connect line but it get transferred as
clear text.
