I'm trying to set up a LAN with my new computer (windows XP). My other
computer runs Windows 2000. The network wizard doesn't support this. What
do I do (short of replacing the operating system)?

try putting the XP installer cd in the W2000 computer

choose Perform Additional Tasks

then choose

Setup home or small office networking

alternatively copy netsetup.exe onto a floppy while running the wizard on
the XP comp

There's no need to run the Wizard.

Configure Windows 2000's network connection to obtain an IP address
automatically, and set its workgroup name the same as XP's workgroup
name (default is MSHOME).

XP's Network Setup Wizard won't run on Windows 2000, no matter how you
try to do it.
