I have a three computer home wireless infrastructure network setup through a
router/hub. The cable connections comes in from the modem to the
router...and then goes out via two wireless channels and one line channel to
the three different computers. We do not use the three computers to
transfer files..etc..back and forth...only to share the internet cable
connection though the router. My question is...how do I disable any
communications between the three computers ? We do not want programs or any
one 'logging' on from one computer to the others. One issue tho is that two
of the computers also use a wireless printer (also on the wireless
network)..but that too is though the hub...so I don't think they would or
could contact each other.

Anyone that can help please keep in mind I am a network novice !

Thanks, Tim

Make sure that no folder is shared on any of the PCs. If you're
paranoid then you can even disable the administrative shares.
Run regedit.exe on each PC, then navigate here:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Set the value of AutoShareServer to 0
Set the value of AutoShareWks to 0

To see your current shares, type this command from a Command
Prompt (Start / Run / cmd {OK}):

net share

Thanks...as a follow-up...what if I want to share folders between computer 1
& 2 (W2000sp4)...but only one specific desktop folder between computer 3
(WXPsp2) and either of the other ? Purpose being that I don't want any type
of program on #3 ...or something that enters though the router/internet...to
be able to be sent-installed- scan files, or run on #1 and/or #2 initiating
from #3 ?

I do not run Windows firewall...but do run TrendMicro Firewall on all three
computers ? Keeping in mind that my internet connections initiates through
the router...I do not use 1,2 or 3 for the incoming internet cable
connection

Thanks, Tim
