I've reformatted and installed XP Pro (wanting to learn about
administration). I set up partitions so that Windows is on C, swap is on D,
program files on E and users´ data is on F (easier to backup).
I redirected My Documents to go to F:\Heike. I've added a new user using
MMC, and saw the property setup for "Home Folder". I'm not sure whether to
set this up to F:\Michael or to redirect My Documents to F:\Michael (same as
with Heike's account). Reading up on it, I'm not quite sure what the
difference is between these two methods, and which is the better way to go.
Heike is the main user on that computer, while I use a laptop on a
workgroup, and will most likely set up my (Michael) My Documents as a share
so I can reach it from my laptop (more disk space on the desktop).
In a nutshell, here are my choices (that I know of):
1. In MMC, set Home Folder to F:\Mike
2. Leave Home Folder blank, and just set My Documents to F:\Mike
Either way, I'll do the same for Heike's account for reasons of consistency.
What do you recommend, and are there other options that I'm missing?
Thanks,
