I upgraded from windows 98 second edition to XP home
edition it was working great I was very happy with the
results of the upgrade. Two days later the computer was
on and it froze I had to unplug to get it to turn off. I
restarted and the computer never booted up again. I didnt
make an emergency startup for XP. I am looking for any
help I can get to solve this problem.

See "How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in
Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084) and "How to
Start System Restore Tool From a Command Prompt in Windows XP"

Hi Joanne,

Could you describe exactly what happens when you restart your computer?

Something like this:

The power light comes on.
It beeps once.
It starts counting how much memory I have.
The red light on the front of the computer flickers.

Also, while the computer attempts to boot, after the memory check, tap the
F8 key repeatedly for a few moments. This should get you to a utility
screen that will allow you to "boot into safe mode". If it does, select
the option to boot into safe mode.
