Somehow I ended up with a Welcome screen on which I have to click my
User Name in order to boot up. There is only 1 user set up on the pc
with no password. How do I get rid of this annoyance? Thanks

Hi Glimmer,

Follow the instructions here:
http://mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/welskip.php

Regards,

Patti, this does not work. When I follow these instructions and enter
no administrator password, I get the following message upon bootup:

The system could not log you in. Make sure your username and domain
are correct......

If I enter an administrator password, the next time I boot up I get
this message:

Unable to log you in because of an account restriction.

How to fix?

I do not have access to a machine running Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition, so I am unable to help troubleshoot. But may be the
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles will help:

Neither of these articles helped either. Sigh......
