Holy @&% BETA - help!

After downloading, installing, running the software and
then updating virus protection with CA's 12-month trial
(as recommended by the MS site), my Windows XP
Professional laptop is now virtually useless!

It takes 10x longer to start-up and once 'ready', responds
to NOTHING - no start menu options, no CRTL+ALT+DELETE and
Task Manager to figure out what is happening - the only
thing the software 'responds' to is a hard reboot (which
does nothing to help). I can't even get to the DOS-prompt
off of the start menu in XP anymore.

This problem is beyond my tech support abilities - I need
help and suggest that this beta is by no means ready for
prime time!
