Hi All,

Must be a while since I have done a clean re - install.
Can someone please advise the method to stop OE
activating Messenger ?
I have set Messenger service to 'Disabled' in services.

Thanks,

Neil

To disable "Windows Messenger":

Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:

"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.

Next, open Outlook Express and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options and under the General tab uncheck
"Automatically log on to Windows Messenger" and click
APPLY.

Alternatives:

This, apparently, does not work if you have Norton AV unless it's the 2004
version. I'm having the same problem. If you NAV is 2004, go to options in
Norton, choose MSN Messenger and you can disable it from there.
