Ok I just finished EP 1. It was pretty good.

Got Lost Coast from an old link here at PCR, looking forward to that.

Is it worth getting the Orange Box at £ 16.99 as it has EP 2 and Portal ? Or Should I get EP 2 for £ 8.99 ?? In other words is Portal any good ??

If i get the OB can I give away the HL2 + HL2 EP1 that I got as a gift ??

Ta.

I think you can try the Portal Demo direct from steam - it might be worth giving a go to see if you like it. I tried the demo and it seemed quite fun, but I never went for it in the end.

EP2 is good fun though :)

I have the Orange Box, I never have got round to trying Portal yet, don't know why, really...

Lost Coast is very short indeed, it's not a full game or episode it was just a demo at the time to demonstrate the then new grpahics engine.

Something interesting about Steam.

A whiles back I owned Dark Messiah Might & Magic and it was installed when I installed Steam.

Steam made the game it's own, so to speak, and presumably applied any updates.

I sold Dark Messiah as it was a bit buggy, there were parts of the game impossible to get past without cheating.

Whenever I install Steam since, on whatever machine, it is always listed, single player and multi player.

So last night on a whim I double clicked on Dark Messiah Single Player to install and blow me it did

Full working fully patched version. Whether the game's still buggy or not I do not know but I do recall enjoying parts of the game before getting fed up with bugs so I shall give it another try.

So, all those who constantly berate Steam for being a little too strict with DRM, know that Steam can work in your favour as well.

What it means is - assuming you have online access - whenever you do a fresh install Steam will load all the games you have registered with them, all fully patched and updated.

So you see, it ain't all bad ;)

One last thing - assuming through all this that Steam do stay in business of course and don't go bankrupt...
