Sorry if this is the wrong newsgroup:

I am repackaging an application which seems to leave lots
of HKCR keys, my question is how do I tell which of these
key's are required by the application, and which ones are
not??

Thanks

Phil

Consult the vendor for their requirements/modifications.

You might also "track" the installation on a "clean" system in order to
determine what keys/values are written/modified on installation.
Sometimes some changes are made after the "first run" of the
application. You would use a tool like InCtr5 (or similar) to track
the install. Or you could export before and after REG files and
compare them but a dedicated install-tracking tool is much better.
