I've tried deleting the History folder as suggested from an ealier post and
rebooting, a new History folder is NOT recreated. Any other options for
repairing my History?

Hi 777 :-)

In my last reply to your previous post, I suggested that you do a backup of
your History. Did you do this? Have you scanned with your Antivirus,
AdAware and SpyBot to be sure there is no scumware on your machine?

You have not yet mentioned what version of Windows or IE you are using, but,
if you have done the other steps above, and your History folder is still not
working, then you can do a repair of your IE.

Here are the steps for repairing IE for these Windows versions:

Hi Jan,

I don't recall anything about backing up my history, I want to back it up so
I can try the history eraser. Can you advise me how to back up my history
again?

Thanks,

Hi 777 :-)

Try the following and see if it will back up your History:

Backup IE History: Free

How to restore History from a History backup

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you do the above backup, then you can import the History to the new
folder when your system is again working correctly. That way you won't lose
your History if you do need to do a repair.
Hope this helps
Just to make sure I've got this right, I've backed-up my history with the
history backup tool. So, now I need to use the history eraser tool to delete
my history, right? Then can I restore my history with the backup tool?
I'm leary about using some free programs, I've heard nightmare stories about
people having things erased or deleted that weren't supposed to be deleted.
Has anyone used both of these tools? Any testimonials on how well they work?
Thanks,
I finally decided to try the Smart Protector which is $25.00, free trial for
15 days (fully functional). It worked!! I would recommend this to anyone
having trouble with their History folder not working. The advantage of Smart
Protector paid version versus the free version is that it will create a
backup of everything before you erase everything if you wish to do a backup.
Thanks for the advice,
