Hi there,

I need to have history removed from the address bar permanently.

For security reasons, I don't want to allow for when I type in www.c** and
it comes up with suggested websited starting with "c". I have "history" set
to 0 in the options but that doesn't totally do it.

How do I set this so that there never is a suggestion following the letters
after "www.*" ?

Thanks,

Gordon

Gordon,

'Clear History' in Internet Options.

-or-

Delete the History folder and index.dat:

Hi Ramesh,

I did that, but it went and re-created the history folder...

How can I stop it from re-creating it?

Gordon, The History folder will be re-created automatically. However, by performing the earlier procedure (URL), the existing index is cleared. You need to uncheck the option Use Inline Auto-complete for web addresses option in Internet Explorer Advanced tab, to turn off the feature Off. The History will still be stored, which you can remove them later using "Clear History".

Hi again Ramesh,

Yes, did that too.... doesn't work.... after 1 day it will delete History,
but I need it to be done automatically so that the address bar NEVER comes
up with any suggestions at all..... hmmmmmm...?

Gordon, It definitely reads from "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY". You can turn off the 'suggestion' by turning off Auto-complete - web addresses. That certainly works for me.
