History Missing after IE 6 Download

After I downloaded IE 6, my history no longer shows. The
only things that show in my history file are "Desktop"
and "index.dat"

I've already browsed this newsgroup. One suggestion is
that McAfee ActiveX controls cause this. But I don't have
McAfee.

Another suggestion is a corrupt history file, with
instructions to delete and re-boot. I tried that - no
improvement.

Any other suggestions?
