History doesn't get deleted completely after shutdown

Hi

Since a few days the history/ autocomplete function of my IE6 seems to
behave rather odd. Although the program settings are set to delete the
history after every shutdown of the program, there's one URL which always
enters itself via autocomplete into the address bar as soon as I type
"www.". What's the name of the folder where IE stores this information? I
scanned the registry and all appdata (in Documents and Settings folder) but
couldn't find any trace of this particular URL.

Hi,
This URL is in the index.dat file in the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
