Im trying to make a histogram, and i can't get it to work
at all. I go to tools, data analysis, select histogram,
and then i have no idea what to put into the variable and
the bin. What i am doing is making a chart for games the
Tigers played, how many people were at the game that day
and what the temperature was that day.

please help

Histogram summarises a data set (a single column in a worksheet) by the
ranges you specify and plots the results in a graph form. Without
comlicating the issue with the gamesTigers played, let us assume that at a
particular location, the daily maximum temperatures rocorded during a period
of say, one year is tabulated in a en Excel spreadsheet in in two adjecent
columns.

Date Maximum Temperature (Celcius)
1/1/2003 15.0
2/1/2003 18.3

etc.
Area of the spread sheet that contains "Maximum Temperature " -excluding
the dates- (eg b1:b366) is your variable range.

Suppose you want to analyse this data by way a histogram by grouping them in
to the following ranges:

Below 0
0 to 10
10 to 20
20 to 30
Above 30

In a separarte location of the spreadsheet, tabulate the above numbers with
the header "Temperature Range" as follows:

Temperature Range
0
10
20
30
Area of the spread sheet that contains above data (say d1:d5) is your bin
range.

Include the header cell in your respective ranges and tick the "Lables" tick
box.

Then decide on the type of Histogram you need in the dialog box.
Hopefi\ully this will give you a Histogram of the results.
