Histogram Question, Please

Hello,

Using W7 and Excel 2007.

Still a bit uncertain re some of the "nuances" of Histograms, although I
can generate one.

a. If I have Bins for the data set up as, e.g., 100, 105, 110, 115...

How are data values that has a value of 103, 106, 114, etc. that fall
between handled ? Are they included in a preceding, or following, Bin ?

b. The columns on the Histogram have "large" horizontal spaces
separating them (the Bins) when plotted.

Any way to make the columns as plotted be essentially contiguous; right
next to each other ?

You continue to fail to explain exactly how you are generating
histograms. It appears that you are referring to a chart, not just
the data.

In XL2003, there are several ways that you can do it. I do not have
XL2007, so I cannot comment on that directly.

I call those numbers "bin limits". They are the upper bound for data
counted in the bin. This is explained in FREQUENCY help page. So 103
is counted in bin 100; 106 is counted in bin 110; etc.

None that I can see with the XL2003 Chart Wizard.

XL2007 might have a custom chart type for this. Hover the cursor
somewhere between bars in the chart, right-click and click on Chart
Type > Custom Types.

There may be add-ins that provide this feature. You might try Google-
ing for "excel histogram add-in" without quotes.
