The activity light on my cable modem seems to be on all
the time. How can I find out if my comp. has been
hijacked?

Appreciated very much,
Paul

Yes I know. What I was told two sources; 1) the cable co - that's normal 2) a friend - because of port sniffers.. I wish it would stop but I suppose that's the way it is now.

1) List of all connections to your PC:
Start-->Run-->cmd
netstat -a

Look for entries that are not internal IPs

If you need more information about unknown connections, Winternals
makes a great product called TCPView that will tell you what program
is using those unknown connections so that you can terminate their
processes, etc.

2) Run hacker-tool-detector type program. A pretty good one is Pest
Patrol, but there are others too. It will find the utilities that may
be running on your PC that antivirus will not detect. These tools are
not considered virii due to their being legitimate apps being used
maliciously.

That should get you started.
