I know exactly what you mean - a perfectly functional
program that does exactly what you want it to do buggered
out of the blue by Microsoft foisting something unasked
for, unannounced and unwanted on consumers. Highmat
download is still in my recommended Windows Updates but,
despite not having downloaded it, there was the Highmat
logo shit in the save movie wizard, all sorts of
irrelevant options overwriting themselves on the screen
and no way to stop MM2 saving to cd no matter what. I
think you are right - WM9 may be responsible, perhaps via
auto codec update or similar. After hours of trying to
uninstall MM2(not easy, as it does not fature in
add/remove progran lists) and reinstalling it, all failed
except re-installing WM9. Whether co-incidence or not,
all is well again and MM2 back to the way it was. Glad I
keep copies of all the program downloads I need to handle
Windows probs & crashes! Let me know if you have a win
