When I use Windows XP to create a CD it is now asking me if I want to make a
HighMat-compatible CD.

The default is not to. I was copying a photo directory to take to my
Mom's so that her screen saver picks them up. (Lots of new pictures of my
grandkids).

Any reason to not check this?

..And it doesn't seem very worthwhile to bother with yet another DVD format,
since there aren't enough already(?) , and more confusion for me, don't know
about You! I should hve waited for all the DVD format wars to settle down
before investing inna DVD player and nero6 for $100.00, unless i wanted to
wait for the next generation of WIndows which finally, will have some sort
of DVD writing software. Reminds me of the Betamax/VCR hassles..

I did wait for the +/- DVD drives to appear at a good price before I
actually went ahead and purchased one for that same reason. Now it appears
there is yet another DVD format on the horizon... blue laser .... ho hum.
Just when you thought it was coming to an end!

However I guess there is a time when you have to purchase.... but it's
probably a guess as to exactly when that time might be!

Quick info on blue laser
