Hi everyone. I'm running Windows XP Pro on my Dell laptop. The highlight
is a very light grey. How can I change the color? It seems like an
insignificant issue, but I rely on the hightlights to help me keep track of
stuff. I tried to look in the "Display" from the control panel, and scrolled
thru the pull-down items from the Advanced Apearance settings, but I didn't
see "highlighted" listed there. I also looked up "color" and "highlight" on
the indexes to no avail. Thanks in advance.

right click on desktop
Properties.
Appearance tab.
Advanced button
Items: select "Selected Items"
choose your new colour
Ok button
Apply button.

Actually, the item I want to change is not the active highlight, but the
highlight that indicates which things have been viewed (esp. w/ email posts,
etc.), not viewed links. Sorry for the confusion

Isn't that just hte normal text colour ? unread items are bold, read items
are non-bold.

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for hanging in here w/ me. Yes, sometimes bold/unbold determines
un/read, but not for all programs; often, some cells are highlighted even if
it's in addition to the un/bolding.... the cell color is what I want to
change.

I believe this highlight also works elsewhere, but this is the most common
example of what I'm looking for.

Hmm.. not sure then, all I can suggest is that the "program" you're dealing
with could be using it's own colour, or using a non-standard selection from
the items list.. all you can do is set each of the items in the list to
something new and see which the program is using.. else look in the
options for the program.
