Highlighting/selecting text

Does anyone know how I can customize this function so that I can opt to
select text down to the character level? As is, IE6 automatically
highlights the entire string of characters, so let's say in the word
'internet' all I wanted to select would be 'tern', but IE6 automatically
highlights 'internet.'

I've been searching for an hour, but the solution eludes me.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
That can be a little touchy... Here is what I do.
Place your cursor at the beginning of what you want to
copy and hold your shift key down and use your right arrow
key to highlight the desired text. Then either RIGHT click on
it and select COPY or hold down your CTRL key and hit C key.
This will copy it to the clipboard and you can paste it in any
text editor or E Mail.

To get around this, simply keep the left mouse button held down,
and move the highlight back to the first character in the middle and
reselect. The second time around it will _not_ select the first part
of the word.
