When I highlight a block of test, and begin to type, the new test is placed
at the beginning of the previously highlighted text, rather than replacing
it. In the past, the highlighted text would have been replaced. What have I
changed?

Press the "Insert" key on the keyboard? Since you didn't say what
application you are using when this happens, that's as specific as I
can get. If this happens while using MS Word, try one of the Word
newsgroups where you'll get attention from the Word experts.

Thanks,
It happened in Outlook and Word, but I went back and checked and it didn't
happen in PowerPoint or Excel. So it had to be a Word problem. Checked
options, and lo and behold, under editing, there was a selection for "Typing
replaces selection" which was not checked.

Problem solved!

Super! I'm glad you got it sorted. Thanks for taking the time to post
the solution.
