I don't want a mouse that is "as good as any", I am looking for
the best cordless mouse. In your opinion, which is the best
general-purpose cordless mouse on the market? Obviously it's going
to cost more than most, but it might not be the most expensive.

My Logitech "MX Revolution" cordless laser mouse seems to be
malfunctioning lately.

Thanks.

As always, it's a matter of personal opinion. After using boo-coo plenty mice over the decades (both wired and
wireless), my favorite is the Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000:

I've been using one for almost 4 years now, and have never found one that I liked better. Battery life is as good as any
others I've had, about 6 months on 2-AA's.

I should have mentioned the fact that I like a flywheel style
scroll wheel. It's a blast. Hopefully that does not limit my
choices to Logitech mice.

Check out the Cybord RAT wireless mouse. You will pay around $150 for one.

The Logitec Performance fits the criteria, that it's near half less
expensive than, say, a Cyborg at 75% overall in Logitec reviews above
average compared to 33% for the Cyborg;- by general purpose, anyway,
you've eliminating a gaming mouse, for Logitec's advertising over
field applications.

Personally, I'd just as soon be stunned. . .

Tell you what. . .buy this to get back to me pronto with a stunning
review so I'll have a hot excuse to get rid the perfectly functioning,
all-black combo Logitec IR keyboard and matching mouse, I picked up
for like $19US, sitting on a glass-top coffee table between the
multimedia center and leather couch.
