Was reading a review at ,

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/powercolor_radeon_x1950_pro_agp_review/page15.asp

and they said this ,

The only other X1950 Pro card on the market at the moment here in the USA is from Sapphire and it currently sells for about $250 online. The Sapphire card has twice the memory at 512MB, but our testing in the past has shown that mainstream cards like the X1950 Pro don’t really take advantage of the extra memory.

Its an old review .
My question is are they right in what they are saying that high end cards do not realy take advantage of 512MB memory . I'm thinking of buying a 1950 Pro and using it on my 19" monitor , I may upgrade to a 24 " widescreen at some point . So would a 512MB card offer me a lot of improvement over a 256MB card .

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119956/rb/27810934157 for the 512MB £136 but knock of £10 with the google offer and its £126 but I fancy a Accelero 2 cooler which I've sourced at less than £20 so that would be £146 and I might get a few quid back for the stock cooler on e-bay so call it £140.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-071-HT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=403 That would be £125ish with postage , add on the accelero 2 and it would be about £145 less afew quid for the stock cooler say around £135 .

Would I get £10 for a HIS cooler , possibly .

So what words of wisdom can you give me folks .

For the £20 in price difference I think 512MB would be worth it if you are planning on going for a 24" monitor in future. Although I wouldn't expect much difference at all if you stick to 1280x1024 on a 19"

Here's some reading that may help :

Thanks Ian I read loads of reviews but never came across those . Looking at me funds I think I'll stretch to the 512MB . Might wait for a while and see if prices drop a bit though . :D
